Biography
Aiden's life has been a roller coaster since before his birth. It all began about 6 months before he was born. The revelation of monsters and mythos being real were still a shock to humanity. The fact they were trying to integrate into society rubbed a good many humans the wrong way. There were riots, hate, and bigotry towards those that weren't human. Aiden's parents were among those humans. Primarily his mother. She hated what she feared. Hated the unknown. This became the cause of all Aiden's problems. One day his mother choose to anger the wrong witch. This witch cursed his mother, claiming that which she loved the most, would become what she feared. At first she assumed the witch meant her husband, but after months went by and nothing happening, they had let the curse and the witch slip from their memories.
Nine months pregnant. Suddenly Aiden's mother started realizing something was wrong with her unborn child. The pain became constant and excruciating. As it continued to get worse, the witch and her curse came back into her thoughts. it was then she realized that the curse was not directed at her husband, but the child she had so carefully and lovingly carried to term. This realization lead them to try and find the witch. The couple made their way to different monster communities, asking about the witch, but most monsters were smart enough not to meddle in the business of witches.
Their search for the witch was too little to late unfortunately. Unbeknownst to them, the curse had already settled upon Aiden. The soul of a Star Eater had already been bound to Aiden's body, warping his physiology, creating an unborn monster. Once the curse had fully taken shape Aiden had no control over the sudden hunger, the rage, the fear. Being an infant he didn't have the will power to combat the second voice, or the second mouth that had formed where his own stomach and organs would be. Not having a star around to satisfy it's hunger, this second mouth chose the next closest thing: the woman who still carried them.
With a blood curdling scream, Aiden's mother fell to the cold street, blood pooling around her. Her husband stood in horror as he watched what he thought to be his son, eating his way out of his mother.
This is how Devon found him. A screaming newborn in the streets of monster territory, laying in a puddle of his mother's blood and flesh. What happened to his father is unknown. Devon claims he died, but there was no evidence of this when Devon found him. Aiden doesn't argue, but wonders if his real father is still out there, and what he would ever say to him if he found him. Devon and Theo had taken it upon themselves to raise the poor child, something most monsters wouldn't have dared if they sensed anything human about him. Aiden could never repay them for that so he pushes thoughts of his real father aside and does his best to live life as a monster until he can ever find a way to break the curse.
Now he lives day to day, sharing his flesh and blood with a creature he will never fully understand. The social aspect of being cursed causes him a lot of anxiety, depression, and anger issues so he prefers to stick to the confinements of home if he can. Devon chose to home school Aiden for his own safety and that of those around him. He's become adjusted to having another voice in his head but it is a constant battle to keep control, more so while he was younger. As he aged, he learned to suppress the hunger brought on by Maw, as he calls the creature, but this only lasts for so long before he has to let Maw take full control to "hunt". Devon and Theo managed to negotiate with the creature, who now allows the pair to determine who can and can't be eaten while on a hunt, so long as Maw gets to eat.

About Maw
Once Aiden, and Maw in turn, learned to speak Devon was able to determine Maw was a "Star Eater" for lack of an actual species name. Maw explained he had a living body still, he could sense it, but couldn't connect with it anymore. He also had no idea how he had become attached to Aiden, and wanted to be separated as much as Aiden wanted it. He continued to explain to Devon that he was a vast creature, bigger than anything Devon could picture. Bigger than planets, bigger than stars. It was his species duty to keep the universe clean and tidy. When a star was dying, it was his duty to "clean up the mess" by eating the dying star as it went super nova, leaving in it's wake a black hole to pick up the scraps. This explained the constant hunger, there was noting on earth that could ever fully satisfy the hunger for something as large as a star. Devon asked how many of his species existed, to which Maw was unsure. He could sense others just as he could sense his distant body, but the universe is so vast that he had never actually ran into another of his kind.
Devon came to the conclusion that Maw was not inherently a vicious creature, but was just as scared and angry at being in the situation as Aiden was. He was primarily driven by his hunger, and lack of being able to properly satisfy it. Devon believed that he also felt a lack of purpose, and that much of his frustration and anger came from not being able to do what he was created to do.
